About

The editorial weekly for Long Island lifestyle.

Curated by The Editors. Updated daily. Newsletter every Thursday.

What we do

We tell Long Islanders what's happening on their island. Not every event — the ones worth your weekend. We're a small editorial team covering Nassau and Suffolk County: concerts, festivals, restaurants, family activities, wineries, theater, comedy, sports, and the kind of insider details you'd hear from a friend who's been everywhere.

Our weekly newsletter, This Weekend on Long Island, lands every Thursday at 10 AM ET with our top picks for Friday through Sunday. The website is updated daily.

What we believe

  • Specific over general. Times, neighborhoods, prices, parking notes. We don't say "great atmosphere" — we tell you which table to ask for.
  • Editorial taste, not algorithm. We rank events by what's worth your time, not by who paid for placement. Featured listings are clearly labeled.
  • Long Islanders first. We're not a tourism bureau or a press-release reprinter. We write for the people who live here.
  • Generous opinions. If something isn't worth it, we say so. If something IS worth it, we tell you why.

How we source events

Events come from venue websites, ticket platforms, library calendars, town calendars, organizer submissions, and our editors' on-the-ground knowledge. Every event description on this site is rewritten by The Editors — we use source data for facts (dates, addresses, prices) but write our own descriptions.

Submit your event at /add-event/. Free basic listings, premium featured listings ($25-$50).

How we make money

Three streams, all clearly labeled:

  1. Direct-sold sponsorships — newsletter sponsors, category sponsors, featured listings. We don't run programmatic ad networks. No chumbox.
  2. Affiliate links on event detail pages — when you buy tickets through our links to Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, StubHub, or SeatGeek, we earn a small commission. It never affects what we cover or recommend.
  3. Premium event submissions — event organizers can pay $25 (Standard) or $50 (Premium) to upgrade their listing.

Sponsored content is labeled "Sponsored." Affiliate links carry a footer disclosure. Editorial coverage is never bought.

Editorial standards

All event facts are verified against at least one canonical source (organizer, venue, official ticket platform) within 24 hours of ingestion. Corrections are tracked at /legal/corrections/.

Read our full event removal policy if you're an organizer who wants your event removed, or our privacy policy if you're a reader.

Sister sites + editorial partners

We're part of a small network. Our sister site Long Island Traffic covers accidents, road conditions, and real-time traffic across Nassau + Suffolk. For legal matters — accident representation, personal injury, no-fault insurance — we maintain an editorial partnership with Law Office of Jason Tenenbaum, P.C. in Huntington Station, NY. We never accept compensation for editorial coverage from any party; the JTNY partnership is disclosed wherever they're cited.
