Islanders vs. Rangers — Battle of New York
The Islanders host the Rangers at UBS Arena in Belmont — the regular-season opener of the most-watched rivalry in NYC-area pro sports. UBS Arena is the modernized 17,000-seat home of the Islanders since 2021. Plan extra time for parking + the Belmont Park access road traffic on game nights.

Getting there:
- LIRR Elmont-UBS Arena station — direct from Penn Station, ~30 min. Best move for any LI fan.
- Driving — Belmont access road traffic before 7 PM games is brutal. Leave by 5:30 PM minimum from anywhere in Nassau, 5 PM from Suffolk.
- Parking — $30-50 on-site (book in advance via the venue’s app), or $15-25 at offsite lots with shuttle.
Pre-game: drinks at Tap & Barrel (in the arena’s main concourse), or take the LIRR in early and grab dinner in Elmont (Caribbean food strip is 3 min walk from the station).

Independent league baseball at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip. Friday night home game with fireworks after the final out. $15 lawn seats, $25 reserved. Bring blankets for the lawn — the outfield berm is the move with kids. Food is way better than you'd expect (the lobster roll at the south concourse is actually good).

Long Beach Marathon + Half — Boardwalk Sunday
Long Beach's annual fall marathon + half-marathon along the 2.2-mile boardwalk + neighborhood streets. The boardwalk loop is genuinely one of the prettiest urban race courses in metro NYC. Spectator-friendly — most of the course is visible from the boardwalk.
