Hicksville
Hicksville is central Nassau's commercial hub + the LIRR's busiest non-Penn-Station Long Island stop. Downtown has been steadily redeveloped — the Hicksville Triangle plaza, restored Levittown-era buildings, and the South Asian restaurant strip on South Broadway are the modern draws.
Known for
- LIRR hub (Main + Port Jefferson + Ronkonkoma + Oyster Bay branches converge)
- South Asian restaurant strip
- Hicksville Triangle redevelopment
- central Nassau commercial hub
Hicksville is the central Nassau hub that doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Every major LIRR branch except Port Washington converges here — making it the most-transit-connected village in Nassau. The Hicksville Triangle redevelopment has revived the downtown, and the South Broadway corridor has become Long Island’s reference standard for South Asian food.
Worth knowing:
- South Broadway South Asian restaurant strip — Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi. Best dishes vary; ask locals.
- Hicksville Triangle — the redeveloped town center with new restaurants, retail, walkable mid-rise
- LIRR connectivity — direct trains to Penn, Atlantic Terminal, Greenport, Babylon, Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay
- Mid-Island Y — old-school community center, hosts events + classes
The locals’ rhythm: lunch on South Broadway, errands at the Triangle, evening LIRR ride into the city — Hicksville is a real commuter town with real downtown energy.
