The Suffolk
The Suffolk is the restored 1933 Art Deco theater in downtown Riverhead — touring shows, comedy nights, cultural programming, all in a 600-seat hall that's the kind of room you don't expect to find in suburban Long Island. Recent multi-million-dollar restoration brought it back to mid-century glory.
The Suffolk (formerly the Suffolk Theater) is the restored 1933 movie-palace-turned-concert-hall in downtown Riverhead. The 2015-2023 restoration brought it back from near-ruin; the result is one of the best mid-cap venues on the East End.
What’s worth the drive:
- Touring concert bookings — folk, blues, jazz, indie acts that wouldn’t otherwise hit the East End
- Stand-up comedy — touring acts, sometimes-better-than-Manhattan booking
- The room itself — restored Art Deco interior, worth seeing as a destination
Pair with: Dinner at Tweed’s (5-min walk), or coffee at North Fork Roasting Co. before the show.
